Old TVs — especially heavy CRTs and large flat-screens — are classified as WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) and need specialist recycling. You can't put them in your normal bins. In Swanage, from Herston, Langton Matravers and Worth Matravers, we collect TVs and monitors of any type and size from your home. Dorset Council includes TVs in their bulky waste service at £30 for 1 item, £10 per additional item (max 6). You'll wait up to 4 weeks and need to leave it at the kerbside. For large flat-screens this is manageable, but old CRT TVs are extremely heavy for their size. TipRun collects from inside your home.

Wareham Recycling Centre (9.0 miles from Swanage) has a WEEE bay for electronics. TVs are accepted, but larger screens can be awkward to transport in a car. Old CRT TVs are particularly heavy — a 32-inch CRT weighs around 40kg. Dorset address proof required. If you've got a TV plus other items to clear, a TipRun collection makes more sense than multiple tip trips.
Many older properties with narrow doorways and steep steps. The Purbeck Hills mean some properties are on slopes. Access roads can be narrow. For TV disposal, please unplug the TV and remove any wall brackets if wall-mounted (we collect the TV, not the bracket). Remotes, cables, and small accessories can go with the TV at no extra charge. Town centre has limited parking. Residential areas have on-street. Summer traffic can cause delays on the A351.
